Feature Friday – Meet Dupe

Hi Ladies. How was your week? TGIF right?! I’m excited too and I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend hopefully. The rains have started here in Abuja and I’m over the moon. Lol! I love water and rain is the next best thing. I have another Feature Friday post today so sit back, relax and get ready to be wowed!

Please introduce yourself.
My name is Oladupe Modupe but people call me Dupzzy.

What is your hair type?
According to Andre Walker hair type system, I’m 4b.

Are you natural or relaxed?
I’m proudly texlaxed.

What is the current length of your hair?
Currently armpit length.

What is your current hair regimen?
For the first 3 months, I do a lot of protective styles, moisturize and seal every day and cover my hair with a silk scarf at night. Pre-poo, Shampoo, Tea rinse, Deep condition, apply my leave-in conditioners and air dry weekly. I also clarify once a month. For the next 3 months I flat iron but use a heat protectant, braid and use wigs and extensions to help with my stretch.

Do you have any hair goals?
Definitely! My hair goal is to have healthy soft and waist length. God help me. Lol!

Have you had any setbacks?
Yes. I had one a few months ago. My hair was breaking while moisturizing and sealing. I only comb on wash days so I don’t know what may have caused it. I tried tea rinses and it helped.

What are your favorite protective styles and products?
Protective style; Bun (rough or smooth). Products; Vitale Olive oil moisturizer, Extra Virgin olive oil, ORS Creamy Aloe shampoo, Dr. Miracle’s conditioning shampoo, ORS Replenishing conditioner Organics Cholesterol Tea tree oil and ORS heat protectant.

How has your hair journey affected other areas of your life?
It has made me more confident, creative, informed and happy.

What is your advice to all those starting their hair journeys?
My advice is people should love their hair and care for it like they would their face. Be consistent and patient because hair doesn't grow in a day.

When and how did you learn to crochet?
I learnt how to crochet in junior secondary school. A friend was making a cap and I begged her to teach me. She taught me the basics and I crocheted for a while and stopped. I started again in my 2nd year in the University and I also learnt how to knit with a knitting machine.  The knowledge I gained from knitting I also apply in crocheting.

Is it just a passion or also a source of income too?
At first it was for the money but now it’s both. I derive pleasure when crocheting and when I see persons fall in love with my designs and place an order for theirs.
