Sisters Network and Solange Hair and Beauty Shop Launch

Hi ladies. How have you been? My weekend was great though I didn’t wash my hair since I’m on a protective style but I've been taking care of it well even though I think I’ll take it off soon.

The highlight of my weekend was attending an amazing women’s program and product launch on Saturday. My friend sent me the invite during the week and I’m glad I didn’t miss it. It was an inspiring program and I learnt a lot about women empowerment, networking and tips on how to grow your business.

Sisters Network and Solange Hair and Beauty Shop Launch was a collaboration between Rhoda and Solange.  Rhoda Kushimo an entrepreneur and inspiring young lady is the CEO Adohr Kush Limited. She bakes, runs an NGO – Global Initiative for Hope and also hosts “The Adohr show”. Sisters Network is a project under the adohr show inspiring and influencing young women especially entrepreneurs and professionals.  Rhoda is funny and amiable. Her illustrations were hilarious yet true and she still managed to pass her message across. She made sure we had an interactive session and that helped us get to know ourselves, ask questions and make suggestions as well. Solange Uzodike is the CEO of Solange Hair and Beauty Shop. She is a Professional Hairstylist, Make-up artist and entrepreneur. She has worked with other professionals and has styled a few Nigerian celebrities. She also launched her organic products. And to crown it all up she’s engaged!! Talk about a lady who has it all. Her story is inspiring and I’m still awed at how much she has achieved in a short time. There were other young female entrepreneurs and it was amazing seeing youth carve a niche for themselves in their lines of business.

The program started by 12:00 pm and ended by 2:30 pm and the launch took over from there. I stayed for the program and only part of the launch as I was already running late for my practice. Over 20 ladies were in attendance and more were still coming as I was leaving. We were asked to introduce ourselves and our businesses and then Solange told us her story. She never attended any hair or make-up training and learnt how to make hair and apply make-up by watching hair dressers and YouTube videos respectively. In less than a year she opened her own Hair and Beauty shop and has launched her hair products. She has basically achieved what it takes people years to achieve. Trust me I was thinking of my life and businesses as she was telling her story!
We had a few other ladies tell us their stories; some were inspired to start their businesses by their experiences and other mere passion. We also had professionals who weren't into the business world but are making waves in their careers.

Below are pictures of a few of the entrepreneurs and their profiles.

Solange and Rhoda (CEO Solange Hair and Beauty Shop and CEO Adohr Kush Limited, caketown by adohr and Founder – Global Initiative for Hope). Follow them on Instagram: @solangehairandbeautyshop and @missadohr

(CEO Fabulosity cosmetics). She owns her own cosmetic line and even has her products on Konga so you can place your orders anytime. Instagram: @fabulositycosmetics

My humble self. I had no idea what I was saying. Lol!! (Hair Blogger of course, Network Marketer). Instagram: @momashairjourney

Tina, Sandra and Nkechi. I was so inspired by Tina’s story and determination to learn a skill and make extra income. (CEO Above Rubies Limited, Chartered Accountant and Auditor and Fashion Designer). Instagram: @xandyxays and @nkechi_okeleke.

Yetunde Ajibola. From the beginning of the program I could tell Yetunde was an extrovert and a very brilliant one at that. She clearly has a passion for her business. Would you believe she is also an Architect?! (She’s a Make-up Artist; CEO Zuhri Beauty and also makes the loveliest bags). Instagram: @zuhri_beauty

Wura and Isioma. They’re both procurement officers and work for Agip. Wura also has a dry cleaning shop which she opened after having a horrible experience with a dry cleaner. Isioma was 2 years my senior in the University. Instagram: @mzdudette

There were several other ladies as I've mentioned but I couldn’t get their names or picture. I did try to get the professions and Instagram names of the ones I had which took a while and hence the late post. Aren't I awesome?! The Sisters Network is the first of its series and would have more subsequently. I will definitely invite you ladies for the next one.

PS: There was also a lawyer who explained the process of company and business name registration and its advantages. Her name is Victoria Egwuagha and she’s practicing with Natama Iyare and co. Unfortunately I couldn’t get her picture or Instagram name. Business or company name registration is very important and I got to understand why I should register mine as quickly as possible.

Solange also launched her hair products: Solange Quad mix (which is a mixture of four ingredients- Avocado, Castor and Coconut oil and Shea Butter) and Solange Shea Butter (which is purely shea butter). Her shop is located at suite 55/56 wing C Deo Gratias Plaza, Opposite Utako market, Abuja. She also makes beautiful crochet braids using marley hair.
At the end of the program we had snacks and drinks, exchanged contacts and I got to meet
a lot of people. I had an amazing time and I’m glad I attended this program.

How did your weekend go ladies?

Have a blessed week…
